Arnaldo Correa

Arnaldo Correa, was born in the Escambray Mountains, Cuba, in 1935. He has published over 50 short stories in five books and in many anthologies in Cuba and abroad. His last two novels — Spy’s Fate (2002), and Cold Havana Ground (2003), were published in the U.S. by New York-based Akashic Books. Mr. Correa is recognized as one of the two founders of the crime fiction genre in Cuba. His science fiction story "Retroceso," published in 1966 and praised by Fidel Castro, had a great influence on the development of that genre in Cuba. Mr. Correa studied mining engineering in the University of Alabama, and traveled extensively through the U.S. in the 1950s. He has worked on development projects in Cuba, Vietnam, Angola and Mozambique. He currently lives in Havana. Program: Tough Guys |
