devorah major became the third Poet Laureate of San Francisco in April of 2002. Her poetry books include street smarts (Curbstone Press, 1996) and where river meets ocean (City Lights Publishing, 2003). She is the author of two published novels, An Open Weave (Seal Press, 1995) and Brown Glass Windows (Curbstone Press, 2002). Her poems, short stories, and essays are available in a number of magazines and anthologies. She has taught poetry and creative writing as community artist-in-residence and/or college lecturer for over twenty years.
