Tim Cahill
|
Tim Cahill began writing about international adventure travel in 1975, at a time when such subject matter was thought to appeal primarily to people who think pro wrestling is on the up and up. He has written eight books, labored forever in the magazine field, and generally basked in the warmth of overwhelmingly favorable reviews. “Tim Cahill," says Condé Nast Traveler, “has the what-the-hell adventuresomeness of T. E. Lawrence and the humor of P. J. O'Rouke.” Mr. Cahill is a founding editor of Outside magazine, where he wrote a popular monthly column. He has written for Rolling Stone, Esquire, National Geographic and the New York Times Book Review, among other publications. He won a National Magazine Award in 2003, a year in which he also received a Lowell Thomas Gold Award from the Society of American Travel Writers. He is co-author of the Academy Award nominated documentary, The Living Sea, as well the IMAX films, Everest and Dolphins. He lives in Montana, in the shadow of the Crazy Mountains.
